About

Marci Martel, Practice Owner

Marci started her career working in residential programs for adolescents and providing counseling within a group home setting. She balanced being a mother, having a career and attending school. She taught in higher education at the Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's level at several colleges and universities focusing on developmental psychology, cognitive psychology and family psychology. She opened her private practice in 2002. She worked as the Regional Director for a state contracted home based organization supervising clinicians and working with families of young children and adolescents involved in the court system. She was trained in EMDR in 2006 and began to integrate this modality into her practice. After deciding to expand her business, she incorporated Northeast Counseling and Coaching in 2011. As she continued to focus on the trauma within family systems, she became centered on treating trauma. Her practice with clients is focused on treating trauma and healing attachment wounds from early childhood experiences. Marci Martel is a Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant through EMDRIA. Using a psychodynamic, attachment focused and relational therapeutic approach, Marci works with each individual to develop person centered goals for therapy and healing. The approach in therapy is focused on developing a therapeutic relationship that is nonjudgmental, compassionate and solution focused. Marci supervises additional clinical staff looking to join the practice and become competent and skilled psychotherapists.
